Kalyani Media Group (KMG) was established in Mumbai in 2007, and since then it has been actively involved in research, strategic planning, implementation, training, capacity building, and production of web-based and audio-visual communication materials, for local, national and international development and health agencies in India and abroad. KMG helps client organizations meet their goals by bringing together a unique set of skills, approaches and experience that is guaranteed to produce results.

KMG has provided technical assistance to client organizations on a wide range of health, education and development issues – in the areas of Food-Security, Employability Education, Maternal and Child health, infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, Influenza A (H1N1) and Ebola Virus Disease, non-communicable diseases including Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetes, and Poverty Alleviation.

Among some of its key projects, KMG has designed and developed evidence-based social and behaviour change communication strategies for advancing maternal and child health outcomes in 5 states: Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana and Uttarakhand; and also supported State Health Departments in operationalizing these SBCC strategies on the field.

KMG has also produced a range of audio-visual products including corporate and documentary films, and a unique digital health communication platform for state health department in Madhya Pradesh. On the education front, KMG has developed and implemented holistic programs in low-income schools, employability interventions for youth, and introduced innovative educational and evaluation methods in management institutes in Mumbai.




Kalyani Media Group is a proprietary firm founded by Dr. Nilesh Chatterjee.

Nilesh is behavioral scientist with more than two decades of experience in international public health research, behaviour change programs, training, and teaching in public health, education, and management in India, US and Mexico. He serves as technical advisor for social behavior change and risk communication for WHO, UNICEF, USAID, UKAID, BMGF-funded projects that support the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India. Nilesh has successfully led projects as funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) in USA and CONACYT in Mexico, published more than 50 scientific articles, reports and monographs, and has also been an invited speaker by World Bank – Water, Sanitation program (WSP), WHO and UNICEF.

He was previously Head of Research and Strategy at JHUCCP-India and Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University. In 2014, Nilesh led the design and development of the risk communication strategy for Ebola Virus Disease in India, for the WHO Country Office. Nilesh has a PhD in behavioral sciences from University of Texas (UTSPH), Masters’ in medical sociology from University of Maryland and MBBS (medicine) degree from Bombay University.

KMG has a network of experienced consultants in the areas of strategic research, planning, implementation and evaluation in public health, communication, human resource development, education, and management. In addition to full time staff, KMG works with a range of professionals across states.
